Where does the "click" sound come from?

Small speaker inside the iPod. On my 30G 5th Gen iPod I turned off the click sound by going to Settings-clicker and turning it off. That Click sound was to loud on the train or anywhere else.

Probably similar to the tiny speaker inside any mighty mouse. There's nothing inside to produce a real 'click' when you click the right or left buttons, so a quiet 'click' is developed through the electronics inside the mouse. iPod clicks in a similar fashion.

I didn't know about that! *checks*

It's a small, piezoelectric device that generates the click... technically, it's capable of producing a wide range of high-pitched sounds, but is only used to make the "clicking" sound.

Your iPod also makes high pitched beeping noises. its similar to the sounds found in digital watches
