Yahoo! Messenger Will Expire. Newest Version Exceeds My Specs. What to Do???

I second Satcomer's suggestion. Even I have been keen on the 13" MacBook Pro. It's as if the PowerBook G4 12" was reincarnated into something better. :)

Just curious: Why do you guys recommend the MacBook Pro instead of the MacBook?

Because two weeks ago it was the "MacBook" -- but now, it's the same computer, only better and with more ports, and has been bumped into the "Pro" category while still maintaining the same price point.

You can always go for the $999 polycarbonate MacBook, which is a stellar machine, if you're looking to save a few bucks -- but as the others said, the new MacBook Pro 13" is a killer machine.

My iBook G4 is polycarbonate, too. *sigh* Oh, how I will miss it! :(

Thanks, everyone, for all the replies and awesome information, as usual.

I found out how to get Yahoo! Messenger working with Adium again... in Adium's preferences, under "Accounts," under your Yahoo! Messenger account, under the "Options" pane, change "Login Server" to the following:
Code:
cs101.msg.mud.yahoo.com
With a port of 5050.

Changed mine from the default "scs.msg.yahoo.com port 5050" and it instantly connected.

Don't know how long it will work, as Yahoo! is upgrading their chat servers to a new protocol, and it may or may not be compatible with the current version of the protocol that Adium uses.

Plus it is now unsupported according to the Apple article Vintage and obsolete products.

Just so no one will jump to a conclusion about what is supported, and what is now obsolete:
There's 4 distinct iBook G4 models. The earliest G4 is now on that obsolete/unsupported list. Amie's would not be on that list (yet) with 1.25 GB of memory. The earliest would only have 128 MB on the logic board, so cannot have 1.25 GB total.
