I am trying to upgrade my hard drive on one of the new MacBook Pros. MBP ships with an ATA hard drive but on NewEgg all the larger hard drives (400 - 500 gigs) are SATA. Am I limited to only ATA hard drives or will these SATA work as well?

Well I am doing it for a friend. The estimated repair cost is ~$500 and it is not worth it to invest that much in a 3 year old machine. If I screw up nothing is lost, she was going to throw it out anyway.

The hard drive of my iBook G4 is failing and I was shopping for a replacement. Looking at newegg.com it is hard to tell what would work. What I know (or think I know) is that the drive needs to be ATA, 2.5", .9mm tall. Please correct me if I am wrong, and any recommendations you can offer...

Thanks for your help but I think I did not accurately describe my problem. I am able to get the drive to mount, but I have to first physically disconnect it from my Mac. Right now it works like this: first I connect the drive, it mounts, then to unmount it I do the steps you described above...

Hey everyone, So I want to delete an account from my mail profile but I want to keep the emails associated with the account. Last time I removed an account it removed all the emails associated with that email address. Is there anyway to remove the account but keep the emails?
