ah ok thanks, I only have change disk and options in the time machine preferences - I dont seem to be able to see the files. When I open time machine app and I get the repeating folder view - is that essentially looking at my time capsule then?

I had some issues with my system recently and so I decided to re-install osx completely from scratch, I backed up my old Users directory onto an external drive and then wiped my internal HD and reinstalled 10.5 Now I am up and running again, with a fresh start I would like to get my mail back...

also, something I just thought about, I want to have the flexibilty to take the external hdd onto location shoots, and one of the bigger, raid setups probably will be too big for this. Also if it gets stolen then thats it! but at least, if I have two seperate drive's I could take 1 on location...
