Lock Omniweb as the default browser?

Apologize, didn't realize that. A possibility is that the Finder has set your link files as created by IE. Try this: in the finder select one of those links, and get info. Select the option "open with" and set to Omniweb, then apply to all files. Now all your link files should point to OW.

Lock Omniweb as the default browser?

Launch system preferences -> internet and click the "web" label. Then set your browser in the upper pop-up field as you like. Omniweb is my unique browser.

    Apps seen as documents

I did run the disk utility and nothing changes. Also, there is no difference if I login as root or as a different user. I also tried the chsk command at console startup. Then I optimized the entire system… What I'm now thinking is that some of the shareware applications I downloaded, tested and...

    Apps seen as documents

Friends, thanks for your ideas but unfortunately they don't work: I've tried them all and... uhm... I'm not confusing the icon with the finder type: if I open the finder info window for one of those applications, it says they are "documents", but if I doubleclick them, they run normally...

Urgent help, please! PowerPoint X doesn't open old files

I've just received a large collection of slides for a five days presentation prepared in PowerPoint 2000 for windows. Now, the finder (the info window) recognizes these files as a PowerPoint presentation, but when opening them with PowerPoint X I get a message saying they are in an unreadable...

    Apps seen as documents

I just found that a few applications (see the image) are now seen by finder as documents. On the other hand, they seem to work normally, nor did I notice any other inconvenience. How can I get them back to their real type?

What To Do With Idiots Who Start Bogus Rumors

This is not the point. They keep occupying precious space, their headlines may attract you and above all, you can never known whether you're listening a reliable information or not. The fact that one gets reading their posts does not transfer their misuse of the toll to him. Sorry to say that...

my palm avantgo/vindigo is not nice

I'm waiting for those conduits too... and I'm afraid we got to wait God knows how long. Strangely enough, while Palm offers for free several of them altogether with the Palm installation disks these have not been updated to work under OS X (and I don't believe this requires a major effort) in...

    tired of this CRAP

Sorry, guys, but I believe you're addressing the issue bottom to top. The real problem is not having annoying files/folders visible/invisible in your disks. The crucial point is that Apple's filing system went back a decade or two by imposing a different file naming and structure. It's worthless...

Please help fix Classic on a G3 PB

I assume you have REINSTALLED system 9, and not simply kept the system previously existing. If so, did you check if your root password was correctly typed? Try resetting the root password (restart the Mac by the installation OS X CD and select the utility option fron the File menu as it opens...

    desktop backgrounds vs. performance

I am using GraphiConverter JPG converted images in replacement of the original tiff ones, and the disk size reduction is quite drastic. However, other than gaining (anyway valuable) disk space, I did not notice any improvement in performance (=speed). If there is any, it must be very little...
