10.2 For First Generation PowerBook G4

God yeah of course ya can. Its got everything 10.1 has except less bugs, and more speed, and loads more features ! hehe But with 10.2, the chance you'll need/want to run classic is even lower. Plus, just incase you do need to run it, Classic now boots in about half the time it did in 10.1:D

10.2 For First Generation PowerBook G4

No question about it mate. Move to 10.2. I'm running 10.2 on the 400Mhz TiBook, and it works beautifully. Go for it now. Your system will run even better than before, and with the new Energy Saving preferences, you can get a lot more out of your battery now too.:D

    OS X Home folder

There is a way to change your home directory, but i would recommend reinstalling OS X again, but this time, doing it properly, because you ARE going to have more problems. I am in a situation where I simply can't do a clean reinstall of OS X, I can't back up my HD, so I have to manually...

Getting ready to clear the drive

I wouldn't imagine you having any problems with doing what your suggesting. It should all just work. Try it, and if it don't, you know where to come ! hehe But i really don't see you having any problems doing what you want. I didn with my iMac ( my experimentation machine ! hehe) .....no...

    Privileges etc in 10.0.4

OK.....standard OS X file permission problem here. I have had a lot of fun with this recently ! NOT ! Anyhow, the problem is basically that your App folder has been assigned to the system, and has been made read only to everyone else. Not good. Easy fix though, you'll be relieved. There is...

    Osx 10.1.1 Smb

Nope, there is no SMB interface. Just type in smb://xxx.xxx.xxx in the connect panel, and it'll connect. Simple, but not obvious. ( Obviously, the IP address, or whatever, not xxx.xxx.xxx )

    chmod

I doubt you'll get much help off any of em, but Apple would be your best bet.

    chmod

haha.....oooooo, this is a fun one. I have spent DAYS working on the Ikonboard message boards. Oooooo, what fun ! Me and a mate don't know everything to do with CGI but basically we couldn't get it working on OSX client. That was the main problem, and that's why you're seeing the cgi code...

    mac os x with ir??

I heard that a guy swapped the HD of a Powerbook G3 with a Powerbook G4 and the IR option came up in the network panel. I know this isn't a proper solution, but the functionality is there. How to get at it is the question, to which i don't know the answer. Soz. Just thought i should say people...

OS X causing strange RAM problems in OS 9

Damn man. Interesting one ! I really struggle to think what could be causing this. OS X does leave remnance in OS 9.....quite a lot actually. Which makes it such a pig to reinstall without reformatting. Anyhow, the only things that come to mind straigh away are going to be far to obvious. You...

    problems wuth ICQ For osx

Ummm, well. As far as I know, they should be in the Preferences or Library folder too. If you're talking about the OS 9 apps, then it doesn't matter, not if you've been running em in OS X. They won't be effected

AOL connection, but no internet browsing connection

Hmmmm........well, the first thing i would do is check all your modem setting are right, both in the system preferences, as well as in AOL itself. It messes up on the modem settings sometimes. If that's all OK, then I'm not sure what would be causing it actually. I have heard of this problem...

    problems wuth ICQ For osx

No, don't go to the OS 9 file and put em in there, simple use OS 9 to move the files from one user area to the other. The areas will be kept in Macintosh HD/ Users. Just move the files from one to the other. And it should be fine. I only suggested using OS 9 cos it makes the job easier
