Component Manager errors on starting applications...

I figured out it has to do with the QuickTime Toast VideoCD support plugin, When I rename the 'Toast Video CD support.qtx' file to something else in /Library/QuickTime, I don't see the messages anymore. So, I don't thing they are indications of a major problem; more of the logging type....

Component Manager errors on starting applications...

On almost any application I start, the following message is written to console.log: ## Component Manager: attempting to find symbols in a component alias of type (regR/carP/x!bt). Does anyone has any clue what this means...? thx Rob

A Good TV Tuner for my G4?

Formac has indeed a Firewire device called Studi for digitizing analog (including TV) and digital video. up until recently they hadn't had accompanying OS X software for it, but now they've released public beta software called Tevion for the studio device. This allows you to watch TV on OS X and...

localhost lookupd[211]: Can't communicate with ypbind

did all that. -NO- in the /etc/hostconfig file at the NISDOMAIN key. No entries for an YPAgent in NetInfo. Following the man page, I started up a seperate instance of lookupd with lookupd -d and now interactively see what it's been doing. When I type in hostWithInternetAddress: 192.168.1.1 (my...

localhost lookupd[211]: Can't communicate with ypbind

Not that I have been aware of. I know ypbind stands for Yellow Pages (a.k.a. NIS) as you indicated. Main question however is how to turn it off; I definitely don't need it...! Thanks Rob

    iMic playthrough

Same problem here. I exchanged some emails earlier with people from iMic (forgot the name of the company), and they told me that iMic would be better supported under OS X 10.1 because the Sound preference panel probably would have an input and output tab. Unfortunately I only see an output tab...

how to save prefs for windows/printera

Can anyone tell me how to tell OS X to save window preferences as well as printing preferences? For no particular reason any Finder window I open will automatically move the scrollbar to the bottom, so I always have to move the scrollbar upwards to see the content in the window. How can I...

CD's not showing up in Finder

I partially agree: I had serious problems playing Flash movies using IE 5.1 Preview on Mac OSX. Sometimes the complete system froze and there was no other way then to reset the computer. Now that's what I would mention Windows stability, not Unix-like stability. In a modern operating system, one...

CD's not showing up in Finder

It happens intermittently (is that correct English...;). So, it's not dependent on the type of CD. Even with audio CD's which are recognized normally, sometimes they don't show up in the Finder, nor in iTunes. I can't wait for 10.1 to be honest. This OS is marvellous, but it's just not stable...
