    Remote Power-On = Wake on LAN?

    Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a clear-cut answer to something I'm trying to put together on my campus. I'm looking to deploy updates, but the problem is that nobody leaves their computers on when I need to deploy updates; they're shut down, not put to sleep. I do have ARD 2.2 admin...

    Moving prefs from 10.1 -> 10.2?

    I'm actually going to be making a full backup of the users' drives using Carbon Copy Cloner, since policy at where I work encourages making a bootable backup whenever possible prior to starting work on the computer itself, so I'll have all the data archived somewhere when I do the actual...

    Moving prefs from 10.1 -> 10.2?

    Hi all, A number of users I have on campus are going to be upgraded from 10.1 to 10.2, and I was wondering: can I import OS-level preferences from 10.1 to 10.2 and not have problems? I was looking at specifically copying things like Dock and Finder prefs. I imagine I won't have a problem with...

    Burning in Virtual PC

    Hey Splinky, I had a question like yours too. Those of us that want to use Nero for whatever reason are out of luck. :( Source: http://fmpweb.connectix.com/kdb/FMPro?-db=kdb_web.fp5&-format=detail.htm&-lay=entry&-recID=34071&-find= CD-R(W) Support in Virtual PC Issue: Does...

    Getting 10.2's Login Screen to Remember the User Name?

    Hey guys, I know that 10.1 did this, but is there any way that 10.2 can be configured to have the login screen remember the user name in the user name text box? I here log in using the user name and password text boxes method. Thanks for any help you can provide! :)

    Who kicked Classic to the curb with Jaguar?

    When Outlook (the only mail client used at work) gets ported over to X, Classic is gone daddy gone! :D

    Instaling classic on OSX

    Heh. I just use that method because it works really well if the computers are all on a network; if the network speed is fast, you can have it uploaded onto your computer and ready to go in like 10 minutes or less; a lot faster than waiting for the install to finish off of the CD. Plus, if you've...

    Instaling classic on OSX

    I have been able to pull this off for a while, try this out next time; I'm assuming you've got a non-iMac, an extra hard drive or write access to a networked drive AND (most important) a CD burner. I know this is real unorthodox, but it's very effective if you need to get OS 9 installed...

    Need input on my OS X upgrade technique

    My God, you have no idea how many complaints I get about slow speed in OS X with the 1st gen iMacs and G3 towers. :( I'm implementing every Terminal hack and OS X tweak I can think of to max out speed in OS X. At least when money gets better, people can always purchase the G4 processor...

    Why using MAC OS 9???

    I talked to the boss about it, he's pretty adamant about staying with Outlook across the board. As it is, they're trying to kill off Macs and get everyone on Windows. :/

    Any way to eliminate the translucency in windows?

    Just trying to coax speed wherever I can. TIA, Z

    Need input on my OS X upgrade technique

    Here's the issue: Network Appliances, a division of Quantum, sold our IT staff a Network Appliance (herein referred to as "NETAPP") server to use to replace our old main file server (which happened to double as an NT domain controller), and will be used primarily as a file sharing server...
