    OS9, MouseWorks and file corruption?

I'm using the proper version for each OS. I'm pretty sure the OSX version won't run in OS 9, and my extension set for OS 9 disables the Kensington Extensions, so there's know way that I could accidentally run MouseWorks for 9 in X. Any other ideas?

    OS9, MouseWorks and file corruption?

Okay, I was going to let this go as a fluke until it happened twice. I recently got a Kensington TurboRing and installed the MouseWorks software on my Quicksilver 733 at work. I work mostly in OS X, but occasionally I'll have to spend quite a bit of time in 9. This was the case after I...

Audio CD's won't play after burning a CD

I've got a Quicksilver 867 with a built in CD-RW. After I use iTunes to burn an Audio CD from OS X I can't play audio CD's unless I restart. They seem to skip, or stall or something, the audio turns real choppy like I'm ripping tracks to MP3 while listening to them on a PM7500 or something. I...

    Adding a second monitor

Randy, I'm not too sure about "drivers", but I don't think most of today's monitors really need them unless you want to have system control over geometry and color. I have a LaCie ElectronBlue that runs without any additional installing of drivers. Likewise, my ViewSonic at home is running...

    Root Password

If you're sure you want to use root, this is how you do it. There is no password set for root until you set it. To do this, go to your Utilities folder inside your Applications folder. Launch the app called NetInfo Manager. Once inside NetInfo Manager you want to go to "Domain" and choose...

    Finder (application) Services...

The services do indeed work with cocoa apps...I can highlight text in omniweb and the services become available...to an extent anyway. I can summarize...open the text as a doc in text edit, etc. But, like yourself, I'm still baffled by the grab service, there seems to be no way to make it work...

    Finder (application) Services...

So how do these work? In any given app under OS 10.1 you can go the Finder menu (the one with the Apps name) and there are "Services". Upon expanding "Services" you see Disk Copy, Grab, Mail, etc. But I can't seem to make them work..ever. Regardless of the application that I'm in...even when...

Apple has got to do something with the dock!

when you consider who it's really designed for. Although I'm sure it looks sweet on the cinema display, I think the dock is really ideal for those who aren't power users. People who don't switch between apps in a matter of seconds. Before OS X, trying to explain the idea of the finder and...

    Dock Pinning

while this probably isn't the easiest solution, it is a way to get your dock back to the middle of your screen. Go here: http://homepage.mac.com/kfkel/ get the scripting additions as noted (if you don't have them already). then run the transparent dock app. if you don't want it...

    Files missing in finder

I've had something similar happen while saving new files from classic to directories in my User folder. It also seems to occur when copying files...it takes them a while to show up. Usually closing the folder and re-opening is works for me. I havent' experienced any problems with stuffit files...

    Stupid CD Tray Tricks

I was at a friends last night who has an older keyboard (the iMac kind, the kind that Scope has). He has an internal CD-ROM and a USB Iomega CD-R. When you push the F12 key it opens both drives. Upon doing this my buddy thought that was pretty weird. He said "so if I have an audio CD playing in...

    Stupid CD Tray Tricks

The eject key and the F12 key on my machine only eject CD's...not the zip. Even if I have both in at the same time. The "dual" eject thing was only on 10.0.4...it was aggravating because I'd have a work zip in the drive and would eject a CD and both would pop out. Now the bug's fixed in 10.1...

    Can't trash deleted user's folders...

I could just boot into 9 and remove the folder, I was just curious if I had done something wrong to make it unmoveable. Apple's excuse that you wouldn't want to remove the folder is ridiculous. It looks ugly when you have a nice User folder full of users to have some empty "deleted username"...

    Stupid CD Tray Tricks

Just a thought, but I remember reading that the F12 thing was actually implemented for those who have older keyboards and powerbooks. So I wonder if this isn't some other incarnation of the bug in 10.0.4 where using the "eject" button on the keyboard ejected all removable media (CD and Zip). At...

10.1: Really slow PC Zip performance...

While this isn't exactly a fix, it is interesting to know. A zip 250 will take up to twice as long to write to a zip 100 disk. I wasn't aware of this until right before I bought my 867. I had a 100 installed so I wouldn't have to wait for a 250 and am I glad. We recently got Quicksilver...

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not familiar enough with X yet to tell you exactly where to check for drivers for supported CD-R's...but I'd still check and make sure it works under 9.2.1...just boot up in 9 and see if it sees the CD-R. I'm sure it will, then you can continue to just burn that way until there's a driver...

    Problems in OS 9.1...

I remember reading in an issue of MacAddict about a utility that changes something, the ROM perhaps, I don't know exactly what it was, I just remember that it said it allowed the 600 series of processors to have X installed on them. I'm sure that is only limited to 604's and up, but you never...

    Can't trash deleted user's folders...

At least to the point that I know what I did wrong that made me want to delete the user. After creating the user, I failed to supply a password. After opening the User preference panel a second time and put in pass it told me something about the keychain wouldn't accept the new password, that...
