Kirkman... The issue here is the speed of your processor, and its ability to interact with iMovie. It sounds like your iMovie has too many cuts, effects, transitions, or text to output the movie properly on the fly. My suggestion would be to, FIRST, Export your iMovie as a full "DV stream"...

lol... I PREFER to work on Mac OS X 10.4.... but I really DO have a soft spot for System 7.x .... very clean, while still having a good amount of features. I suppose it's only real downfall when compared with other "classic" Mac OS systems is that when you copy files, you can't multitask.

Yeah. TinkerTool is what you want. Every new file you can have full read and write permissions. Install and configure TinkerTool on all your Macs and you'll be happy. We had to do this at my work when we were sharing storage via Xsan.

Hmmm... are you using the FireWire for not only the video input, but also the audio? Technically, if both the audio AND video are being brought in by FireWire, they should have the same delay time (thus putting them in sync with each other).

I'd say that the way you're using your battery now sounds fine. It IS inevitable, but if you use it fully and charge it fully, you really will maximize the battery's life. When other people were complaining that their 1st and 2nd generation iPods couldn't hold a charge, mine was running just...
