Still trying to solve choppy video from Pismo

Kirkman... The issue here is the speed of your processor, and its ability to interact with iMovie. It sounds like your iMovie has too many cuts, effects, transitions, or text to output the movie properly on the fly. My suggestion would be to, FIRST, Export your iMovie as a full "DV stream"...

    infared in macs

if you want a remote for you Mac, your best bet is actually to use a phone with Bluetooth and a Mac with bluetooth to control your Front Row-equipped Mac. I use my Sony Ericsson Z520a with my Bluetooth-equipped PowerBook and run a wonderfully useful program called "Salling Clicker" to do what...

    What mac os?

CaptainQuark... open System Preferences, click "Keyboard and Mouse", then click the "Keyboard shortcuts" tab... change the shortcut for Spotlight to something that doesn't conflict... this might also be the solution to your XPress problem, since it's also keyboard related, but I don't know what...

    iPod Love

lol. This is exactly like the stupid kind of crap I did in college, too. And I also, have videos to prove it. Nothing breeds funny idiocy like a bunch of guys in a dorm.

Type 1 Font files with mac?

... I believe I had to use these same file types a while ago at work. I ended up using some free/shareware Windows utility to convert it to a Mac-compatible Truetype font (granted, the Mac can use "Type 1" fonts, but the structure of the files is different)... when I get back to work, I'll get...

    Animating that gif.

Actually, there IS an OS X version, now... no need for classic. Go look for it on MacUpdate. :)

    Windows Support...

I appreciate the fact that someone go it working... and I'm sure we'll see a more formal software solution soon... it's good that it's possible, so that we won't HAVE to buy a PC just to run Windows. Good news, but I'm not jumping for joy, uncontrollably.

damn font in safari!! i want pixel font

You mean, ugly? Yeah, sure... From the Apple menu, choose "System Preferences..." and click "Appearance"... at the bottom, where it says "Turn off text smotthing for font sizes..." make it 12 point.... However, this applies not only to Safari, but the whole computer. ...does that help?

    Maximize shortcut?

You flaming libertarian! What the hell is this "live and let live" kind of crap you're talking about?!? You're supposed to force your opinions and style of doing things down everybodys' throats whether they like it or not! :D

    Animating that gif.

Umm.... Lt_Major_Burns, I THINK you may be wrong about the "part of the image is the same" thing.... I remember taking apart images using "GIFbuilder" (Which is the program I'd recommend, by the way, to make animated gifs), and I remember seeing that some frames only contained what changed from...

    What mac os?

lol... I PREFER to work on Mac OS X 10.4.... but I really DO have a soft spot for System 7.x .... very clean, while still having a good amount of features. I suppose it's only real downfall when compared with other "classic" Mac OS systems is that when you copy files, you can't multitask.

    Maximize shortcut?

lol... I see we've gotten off-topic here.... The reality is, the mentality behind the Mac's "zoom" button is that it shows you as much of the window as you need to in order to view all of the window's contents. The Mac OS is centered around the idea that you can multitask, and easily see other...

    Permissions Hate

Yeah. TinkerTool is what you want. Every new file you can have full read and write permissions. Install and configure TinkerTool on all your Macs and you'll be happy. We had to do this at my work when we were sharing storage via Xsan.

    audio delay

Hmmm... are you using the FireWire for not only the video input, but also the audio? Technically, if both the audio AND video are being brought in by FireWire, they should have the same delay time (thus putting them in sync with each other).

    http://www.anti-ipod.co.uk

I, personally, feel that the cell phone is doing more damage to our society than the iPod is. But I understand why the site was created: The iPod helps one create and maintain their own little world and hampers our social abilities.

    battery fading inevitable?

I'd say that the way you're using your battery now sounds fine. It IS inevitable, but if you use it fully and charge it fully, you really will maximize the battery's life. When other people were complaining that their 1st and 2nd generation iPods couldn't hold a charge, mine was running just...
