    glad you made it, congrats. also remember if it returns IP 169.254.62.30, Subnet 255.255.0.0, router blank...... it means the computer couldn't find any DHCP server, and automatically assigns it.

    ok.... before we go further, could you give more details of your setup ? is your router configured to make connection ? (always connected, username & password is put here, router provides NAT, firewall, DHCP etc....) and does the powerbook use wireless to connect ?.

    Try Ubuntu 6.10 for PPC which is the easiest of all, which even can be run as live CD before you install. Yellow Dog is the only *nx which is pure PPC only (no x86 port).

    ok, seems you're mac is using FreePPP to connect than Apple Remote Access. If you don't have FreePPP, open Remote Access control panel, options... button, ukcheck the first one "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP", click OK, save the configuration. open TCP/IP contol panel...

    Pacolov, The iMac 400 can only use PC100 SDRAM 's. PC133 WONT WORK. You can put upto 1GB of RAM in it whilst Apple says 512 MB max. Press the 'Reset' switch on the logic board after you install RAM. Macwhiz
