i figured out the problem..although its odd. both iphoto and finder were attempting to burn at the same time...once iphoto was quit, the burn folder worked fine.

anyone know why Finder wont recognize a blank cd-r to burn and toast (titanium 7) will? i assumed it was a defective disc, but then everything went fine with toast... thanks imac g5 1.8/1gb 10.4.7

i get something similar happening, but mainly when opening/recieving messages in ichat - and only when ichat is NOT the active app at the time. also hapens when dropping items into the trash, moving files into differnt folders... any other ideas? for some reason i recall that resetting the pram...

change which extension? all 96 of the dvdrs? i dont see how that would help.. edit: i realized that the extension is not in fact dvdr, but only the numbers.. so i guess i need to know what the actual file format is? or maybe just the video codec?

bob, can you explain what the 'STATE' info means? i have tcp addresses that say 'closing'. 'fin_wait_1', 'last_ack', 'established'. is there anything to look for that would indicate problems? im directly connected to a dsl modem.

you should be able to go straight from any usb or firewire video device....(eg. camcorder). or do you want to watch video from another source (dvd, vhs) on your emac?
