well, if it really appears to be broken (hardware level), then the only advice i have is a hope, i.e. that the disk is still under warranty -- had that happen as well and lacie simply replaced it without asking questions....
i've always found the following procedures very helpful in cases like this:
1. fsck: reboot your mac and press apple+s while the machine is booting -- this should boot your machine in single-user mode, a simple black screen with white text -- as soons as you get a prompt, type "fsck -y"...
as an answer to the first post: why don't you just connect your disk to the computer and your camera to the disk? then in FCP set your scratch disk for Capture, Render and so on to the external disk --
they seem to be blocking port 25 and since this is the standard SMTP port, there's not much you can do about it --
are you sure that using the company's SMTP server doesn't get you anywhere?
also: i suppose the ip address in your post, is one of your companies' -- first of all, i hope your...
have you tried using the domain name or ip of the proxy server as your smtp server? it's a bit hard to give suggestions without more info -- for instance, to be able to surf, did you have to change the proxy settings under System Preference/Network/Proxies? -- is your company running its own...
hello there - i'm using NateMail, a php script -- the author has a very good tutorial on his site - check it out here:
http://www.mindpalette.com/tutorials/natemail/index.html
he also has another script, Formmail, also with a good tutorial...
the myths of the internet -- im still amazed from time to time that a lot of people really are convinced that they are 'anonymous' on the net -- wake up, you're not -- as someone pointed out here: everything you do on the net is logged in one way or the other -- ever had a look at actual server...
thank god for camino! -- online here since 96 and finally a browser that i really like -- all you safari user: no dissing here but what do you think is so great about it (apart from the fact that it's an Apple product)?
dont know any other way than this, but mind you it's not a very user friendly way -- from entourage i export the contacts in the only way possible -- this creates a "text" file -- this i import with palm desktop but make sure all the columns match -- then from palm desktop i export as v-cards...
just a thought about Apple Remote Desktop -- it's great software to use locally within a network, but over the internet it's not really good -- why don't you download the trial version of Timbuktu Pro and test that --
once more:
1. i don't feel flamed
2. i'm not "lumping all Americans with the current political climate"
by the way, Satcomer, did you see these cartoons that i mentioned? what did you think about them? just curious whether i was the only who got almost angry when he/she saw them...
I'm super glad to hear that i'm way off base about most Americans and trust me: this is not meant ironically -- it's always good to keep communicating, don't you think? (which is why several countries in Europe don't wanna go to war (yet)) -- and you're right in saying that it's mostly your...
just to be clear: i'm not bashing everyday americans -- remember what i said about generalizations -- i'm just a bit surprised (or even shocked) that someone would start a thread about boycotting another nation about oil -- so easy, lame and naieve --
this whole thread is of coursed colored by...
-- begin of flame
i'm sorry but i just can't help it (maybe it's because i'm belgian) -- i read something today (in Milan Kundera's Immortality) that i would like to share:
"Forget for a moment that you're American and exercise your brain"
I know this is a harsh generalization and i...
eudora -- for ever and always -- all other programs just vaporize in comparison -- a big complaint you hear about eudora is its old, archaic UI, but then again, eudora is also the only app that let's you disable the UI, which is why i prefer it -- also: which other email app let's you manage a...
as i said: nothing but a standard text sent by the server -- don't worry too much about it -- if it's your ISP's smtp server, at least -- basically, there's nothing illegal about telnet -- it's old school, but a lot can be learned from it --
don't worry -- it's just a standard message that the server sends to scare people off -- basically there's nothing wrong with telnetting into your smtp server and 'manually' sending an email -- as long as you do it on your own (or your ISP's) smtp server, you're not doing anything wrong --...
