    MacBook hard drive/install CD problem

Hey team. I was traveling in Latin America with my MacBook last week, and one day when I pressed the power key, all I got was a gray screen. I took it to an Apple "authorized retailer" down there, and the 'genius' determined that my hard drive had failed. When he inserted the install CD with the...

    Safari Crashing Repeatedly

Thanks for your help. I checked the date/time and everything seems to be in order. Why exactly do you think it may have had something to do with the problem? I downloaded and ran Yasu. Will keep you posted on if I am still having problems.

    Safari Crashing Repeatedly

I'm downloading nightly webkit builds and I experienced any more crashing, but I'd rather be using Safari, considering that autofill functionality isn't a working part of webkit, and it is quite useful and convenience when using the internet regularly.

    Safari Crashing Repeatedly

Nothing too obvious. Tryed trashing preferences and clearing cache. Not using any input managers. I dont have any extra copies of Safari, but where are you getting the nightlies from?

Hissing, popping from power adapter, macbook

It is it better to call them or to take it into a Genius Bar? It's not so much that the noise bothers me, but just that I'm really curious. Does anyone have answers to my questions?

How much do you pay for broadband?

Provider: Stanford Pay: $50,000 per year Speed: 100Mbps Type: Gigabit Fiber? Download Limit: None Yeah it's pricy, but I don't see anyone else here with those speeds! Haha, of course, that $50k does go to pay for a bit more than just internet...

Hissing, popping from power adapter, macbook

Hey guys, I recently installed Crossover to run uTorrent on my Macbook. I soon noticed a strange, rather annoying, high pitched whining that could be described as a hiss coming from what I first thought was my computer. I noticed that the whine would increase in pitch, and then pop. The pop...

    Safari Crashing Repeatedly

Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted here, but recently Safari has been crashing on my MacBook. I think it may happen most frequently when I'm trying to switch to a new web address before the current one has completely loaded. Is anyone else having this problem? I am pasting the first...

Help- Spammer using my e-mail address

I understand (or at least hope) that this spammer's use of my e-mail will pass. My spam filter comment was a thought I had for keeping junk mail out of my own account that was triggered by this realization that spammers use forged addresses. Does anyone know how to program Mail's filter to...

Help- Spammer using my e-mail address

But doesn't this get to be a huge pain-- alerting contacts of the new address. It's a hassle for both you and anyone who has an interest in getting in touch with you. Also, isn't it possible to determine if a message address is forged or not by examining the header "received" information? Can't...

Help- Spammer using my e-mail address

I was trying to figure out where it would go, but there wasn't really an appropriate forum. I figured it might fit in here because I am using Mail and .Mac, haha. Yeah, this is a drag. Hmm...

Help- Spammer using my e-mail address

Hey everyone, over the past two days, I've received over 300 bounces or 'delivery failure' notices to my .Mac account for spam mail that appears as if it was sent through my account. I understand that he is most likely does not have access to my account, and is simply making it appear that it is...

Buying an AirPort Cone Signal for the Home?

Of course, cellular modems generally don't compare speed-wise to anything except for dial up, and can set you back quite a bit of $ per month. At the T-mobile hotspots you speak of, the Airport base stations are probably connected to a modem/router of some sort hooked into a DSL, Cable, or T1...

    iTunes streaming question

Ok, ok-- the only problem now is that I have two Airport Express base stations that connect to that network, and need the Airport Extreme to distribute its IP address... would just a 4 port switch work, connected to the LAN port of the Airport Extreme? Or does anyone know of a way to turn off...

    Airport Express Software

I recently purchased an Airport Express, but I lost the install CD for it. Does anyone have a copy of the "Airport Express Setup Utility" they'd be willing to send to me? I called AppleCare and they said since it's Labor Day weekend, I probably wouldn't get the replacement CD until the end of...

    iTunes streaming question

Alright people-- here's the deal. In my house, I have a G4 Cube and G5 tower both connected to a buffalo tech router, connected to the LAN of my Airport Extreme. I also have an Airport Express with Airtunes enabled (streaming to a stereo), and two laptops (iBook and PowerBook) connected...
