i plugged in a different keyboard and the same problem- I vaguely remember that the keyboard can be reformatted..how? the sequences make sense so I think that this not random but some pre-set (e.g all the vowels are nest to each other in the second row of the keyboard..) thanks

I do not believe I had file vault on- but this is strange. I noticed that my keyboard was "off" certain letters did not match and when I decoded it( "a" was "c"), I was able to log in. However, all the funky stuff that was going on is still there- despite my rather lame reinstall of 10.4.11...

hi it goes to sleep properly (apple menu) but when I wake it, I get the terminal beach ball. If I log out first, it will sleep and wake properly. I did not try the updater because i was afraid I would lose data. external fire wire HD and a USB hub.. thanks mike

Hi 10.4.11 Anybody know while file controls wake from sleep- I get the beachball if I put the computer to sleep and then try to wake. If I log out first (or log on from my other "safe" account) it works fine.I just cannot put to sleep without logging out first. Not a tremendous nuisance, but...

hi- is there a preference or other component which could have been corrupted and not allow my iMac to awaken- I did all the usual disk verify/repair etc. I think something is corrupted- when I log on from my other user name, the machine wakes without a problem. thansk Mke
