I meant something other than Apple software. I'm guessing you haven't. You might want to try moving the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist to the desktop and re-launching System Preferences and see if that changes anything...

Welcome Ubernerd! I've had a similar problem before, and it was directly related to me fooling around with a piece of software that monkeyed around with the system. In my case, I lost my Accounts icon. Have you installed anything that patches the system?..

You have to give it Metallica, at least they're not running straight into the open arms of Microsoft. Maybe that's a little too corporate / conformist for them .. the rebels that they are...

That's a good point. I'm onto my third Nokia mobile, I find the others to be, well, shall we say: designed by and for the engineer and not the rest of us. The first mobile I had was a Motorola .. its UI was awful. And most of the current crop [regardless of vendor] haven't improved one jot...
