    Intel tech question

From what I recall from my computer architecture class last semester, the penalty on the pipeline can be rather large if a branch is mis-predicted, but not terribly so.. especially if you are using Tomasulo's algithm to deal with out of order execution.. you only wind up losing the number of...

Found the homepage of the mag in question.. searched for "iphone" and found this: "Internet sur le réseau électrique L’Allemagne abandonne peu à peu ses projets de liaison Internet par le réseau électrique. Après E.ON, c’est RWE, autre grand fournisseur d’électricité du pays qui jette...

    Chimera problem

This same thing happened to me, and I just had to do some digging about in the folder you mentioned to find a lock file.. I don't recall the exact filename or path, but it had lock in the name.. I just deleted that, and voila.. all my prefs and everything stayed just fine. Good luck!

My ISP was recently erroneously added to the SPEWS list, and now I can't send email to tons of people in my address book... this is affecting my business... but there seems to be no way to deal with it - other than switching to another ISP. (ick...) Anyone else here had any problems with...

Anti hack for os x 10.2!

As an avid developer using OS X, from time to time I peruse the postings on these forums to find out what other people's experiences are. Usually, I can tell from the subject of a thread whether it is worth my time to read. This one I read only because I suspected someone wanted to try to do...

    How's OS X running on a Lombard???

and I might get flamed for this... but here's the skinny: Mac OS X 10.1.3 is tolerable on it, but I am going to be switching to Mandrake Linux as soon as this semester is over. I am tired of the sluggishness of the system. The video cards in the Lombard are not supported with acceleration...

    Permissions error with Classic

Ok, I tried the permissions fixit script so graciously provided above, and it found all kinds of things that had been altered from the way they were when OS X was installed. Many of the missing files were the various foreign languages that I did not have OS X install, and most of the...

    Permissions error with Classic

    Permissions error with Classic

I get this error whenever I try to start classic.... I have searched the forums and found similar problems, but nothing exactly the same as this one. I checked the permissions on my System Folder folder (The one for OS 9) and they are as they should be (root:wheel, 755). Any suggestions...

Foxtrot Cartoon (that might need explaining)

if you open terminal, and type: man chmod you will get to see the user manual page about this command. From that page: "The chmod utility modifies the file mode bits of the listed files as specified by the mode operand." In english, this means that chmod changes the permissions...
