THe best way is just to buy a monitor powercord from a PC store. Unplug the powercable from the monitor, and plug the regular wall outlet to monitor plug into th emonitor. I've had to do this a few times. It sucks a bit, but better than hacking up your G5

Umm, do they not come with both Restore AND Mac OS discs? *opens up system CDs* My G4 iBook has the "Restore CD - iBook G4" discs and ALSO "Mac OS X 10.3" The Mac OS installer discs worked on my old iMac. I tried them, before reformatting the iMac anway (OS 9 again.. nice n legal eheh)

Does this affect iBooks, or just PowerBooks?

I heard that the G4 iBooks have had some modifications do the part that frays the cable. I still think that AppleCare is a good idea, and if/when I can afford it, I will get it.

Mine still turns off when in Photo (Card) mode. All it does is, it still works as a Video camera, however, when I press the Photo button, it saves it to the card, instead of making a still image on the tape.

Speaking of the DRM.... when we buy an AAC song from iTunes, will iTunes allow us the Convert to MP3... option when we have the MP3 encoder selected? I am in Australia, so I can't try. This would effectively cancel out the DRM, wouldn't it?

yeah it doesn't work without a tape. What I do now is set it to CARD mode, without a card in there, so it works, and when it starts beeping to turn off, i just press the PHOTO button on the remote, and it stays on, withotu taking a photo. But it annoys me.

If I'm using the iChat menu to list buddies when I close, is there anyway I can get it to list buddies who are online but listed as busy/unavailable, not just the available ones? A lot of people i know stay AWAY all the time, so would never list even when they are really there?

Nope. Not in the current line of iPods anyway, and we all believe that BlueTooth is still far too slow to use for the iPod. FireWire is barely fast enough ;) Now... if only I had FireWire 800.....
