    iPhoto munges resolution of JPGs?

I don't think that looks like the same problem. I should point out that saving it at 72dpi doesn't actually lose any data/pixels. It just means the next time you open the image in Preview or GraphicConverter, it displays it ~4 times larger than it was originally supposed to be.

    iPhoto munges resolution of JPGs?

I scanned in a large number of photos recently, and added them to my iPhoto Library. If I open one of them with GraphicConverter, it says the image's resolution is 300 x 300 dpi. This is correct, since I scanned them at 300 dpi. I've noticed that if I edit an image in iPhoto (this includes...

    Replacement Superdrive

I installed a DVR-110D in my G4/733 a few weeks ago. It works great. And with patchburn, the iLife apps see it as an Apple supported drive. I have no complaints.

    having trouble since 10.3.5

I had a very similar problem installing an update on my G4 a few months ago. This solved my problem. I booted from the Panther CD, ran Repair Disk and Repair Permissions from the installer, then rebooted and installed the Combined Update. It worked great, and I had no more problems with any...

[HOWTO] - Share iTunes Libraries on the same computer

I brought this up in this same forum a long time ago. Since iTunes allowed sharing libraries on the same net, I wondered why I couldn't share libraries on the same computer. My G4 has 4 user accounts, and I knew there was some duplication in our iTunes libraries. The answer to my question...

    chess for OSX

My son uses Sigma Chess. It has a free version, and I think there's also a non-free version if you want to pay for more features. It seems to me that the free version has more features than most people would know what to do with. I believe it has everything that you said you want. (And did I...

Help with draft printing on HP in 10.3

Hi, I also had some strange things happen with my HP printer when I went to 10.3. Here's what solved the problem for me. 1. Open the Print Manager, and delete the printer. 2. Remove all printing preference files -- Go to ~/library/Preferences, and remove anything with the word "print"...

    Junk mail filtering in Panther

To all of you having the same problem - I solved it shortly after my original posting. I'll try to tell you what I did, but I don't have access to my Mac from here, so I'm just going by memory. Here's what I can remember: 1. Go to Preferences and turn off Junk filtering. Quit Mail...

Did apple kill internet sharing in iTunes 4.0.1?

I have a related question. I have four different user accounts on my G4 (Panther). I know I can share my music library with other computers on my subnet, but is it possible to share music libraries between user accounts on the same machine? If it is, I haven't figured out how to do it yet...

    Junk mail filtering in Panther

No, I don't still have it in "training" mode. I've been using it in "automatic" mode for a long time. In my experience, it works quite well. It's only since I upgraded to Panther that I've had this problem. Thanks for the suggestion to look at the MessageSorting.plist file. I'll look at...

    Junk mail filtering in Panther

Ever since I upgraded to Panther, I've seen some strange behavior with Junk mail filtering in Mail. I have filtering turned on, so it automatically moves any messages marked as "Junk" to the Junk folder. After going to Panther, this isn't working. I get mail in my Inbox that is marked as...

    New Terminal "feature"

They must have changed the TERMINFO definition for the terminal. The terminfo database is used to describe/define which types of attributes various terminal types have, and how to access them. Some terminal types (like xterm) have the ability to switch between two different screen buffers...

OS X is not a true UNIX because of POSIX

As an OS developer who has worked on POSIX compliance for a couple of UNIX OS's, there are a couple things I'd like to clearify. - The cost of licensing is not a big issue. The Open Group doesn't charge a lot for UNIX branding or licensing. The real cost of becoming POSIX compliant is all...

    Can't print on HP 932c in 10.2.3?

I used to have a problem like this in 10.2. From your home folder, go into Library/Preferences and delete any files that start with "print". You can save a copy of them somewhere if it makes you feel better.) That seemed to solve my problem.

    Linksys BEFSR41 Static Routing

I believe you also have to make a change to the router's configuration. There's a web interface to the BEFSR41 that allows you to change it's settings. I don't remember the URL (I'm not at home right now), but you can find it in the Linksys documentation.
