    application won't lauch

While most people haven't had an issue with 10.4.10, I'm avoiding this update like the plague. There are all sorts of reports of USB and misc. problems with this POS update. To fix this, First back up your important files! Try creating another user in Sys Preferences. If this problem persists...

    Word Not Opening

You should really buy a registered, legal copy of Office 2004 or such. It sounds like you need to reinstall. If you're in school or affiliated with an educational institution, you can buy the student and teacher edition of Office 2004 for much cheaper than the standard retail (although it...

PDFs crash safari when saved or printed

Are you using the Safari 3 beta? If so try this: "Safari 3 Beta kept crashing on PDF links for me. I found and removed an old Adobe PDF viewer plug-in, and all is well again. Use the Finder's search feature to locate AdobePDFViewer.plugin (it should probably be found in /Library/Internet...

    ok, damage avoided...for now?

Sugar and circuits do not mix. Hopefully, it's not on a sensitive part of the LB, but it still can degrade over time.

Corrupted External Hard Drives Attched to MacBook Pro

While Macs do see and access FAT32 drives, it's not a "perfect" union. They generally play better with the Mac journaled formatting, though I haven't really seen it to be an issue. And as far as I know all drives can be corrupted as long as they are mounted. When you suddenly remove a drive...

    Keyboard Illumination won't work

This probably won't help, as I'm sure you've done this, but the only thing I could think of was the F10 key. I tried altering the keyboard illumination settings and then doing a find (visible and invisible) for files changed "Today" but nothing came up. Weird....

    Reinstall app like iDVD

I thought that if you use the Software Restore option on the disc (haven't tried it in a long while) you can pick and choose which apps you want. Or, you should be able to click a "Customize" button on install to pick and choose as well. Barring that, if you know your way around Macs pretty...

    Wireless security

Natobasso brings up a good point. Login IPs differ by manufacturer. Once you find out the IP address for your router (most likely it will be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1), connect your computer to the router via ethernet cable. Type in the proper address into a browser, and you should be prompted...

Organizing Your Day - What Software?

Depending on your needs, Now Up to Date is pretty cool. If, however, you're simply "forgetting" to open iCal when you login in the morning. Add it to your list of login items... (Under System Preferences/Accounts)

    Airport Express and Canon iP2500

The manufacturer of the Printer shouldn't matter. As long as it communicates using the USB protocol, you should be fine. Additionally, OS X has a "Printer Sharing" feature so as long as the computers are on the same network, you can use the computer that's hooked up to the printer to network...

Is there a way to "queue" file transfers between machines?

How many files are you talking about? seems to me a USB Cruzer drive would be much simpler. You can get up to 4.0 GB (maybe more, but mine 4 GB was the biggest available when I bought the flash drive)

    ITunes not burning cd's

What are you using to burn? Toast or the Finder. Does it happen when you're trying to burn data CDs, or just music?

Is it a MacBook? If it is it's a known issue. Bring it (or send it) in for repair. It's overheating.

    Backdoor's to Mac OS X

If you want to play around, there's a bunch of apps that let you alter things. I'm pretty sure you've played around with Terminal and NetInfo, but if you haven't those Utilities are a good place to start. Also, you can mess around with PlistEdit Pro, which lets you alter system and application...

    PDF files wont open

Get info on a PDF (Apple+I) Under "Open with" make sure it's set to Acrobat, even if it is, I'd click off of Acrobat, and to Preview, and then switch back to Acrobat checking the "Change All" button. If that doesn't work, you may want to delete the com.apple.finder.plist file in...

MacBook Pro freezes when plugging back in...

"Has anyone heard/dealt with the random crashes/time issues? He did put Bootcamp on and does have Vista installed... it's the version below the basic one. But I don't know if he has experienced the problems with that side as well as the OSX side" see here...

Hard Drive problem in Powerbook G4

If it's clicking like crazy (very bad sign, as it means something is HW bad in the drive), and it doesn't show up in an app like Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, or Data Rescue, you're pretty much out of luck unless you want to pay the $$$ for a professional data rescue.
